82-year-old Richard Wirick was walking northbound in the west crosswalk at the intersection of 200 E. and 400 S. Witnesses state the traffic light turned green for westbound traffic to proceed while he was still crossing the street. The two inside lanes of traffic heading westbound slowed for him, but the UTA bus that was in the outside lane did not. Mr. Wirick was struck by the bus, and pinned underneath. The bus had to be lifted off of Mr. Wirick who was transported to the hospital where he later died.
