Watch Log: Thursday, February 9, 2012

The motel manager requested police stand by while some tenants were being evicted. As the room door opened officers could smell marijuana. Upon investigation over an ounce of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana was seized. Angela Gallegos (2/2/75) was booked on warrants. Christopher Barros (11/11/87) and Carmelita Worthen (2-28-83) were booked on drug charges.

A male adult entered the Payless Shoes Store, browsed the shoes, and picked up a pair. He approached the cashier, brandished a handgun and demanded cash. Upon receiving some cash the suspect fled the store on foot. Officers converged immediately and found the suspect at 600 W. 200 S. He was in possession of the cash, shoes and handgun used in the robbery and was positively identified. Robbery detectives determined that he was also the outstanding suspect in the robbery of an ophthalmology clinic at 250 E. Broadway on February 6th. The handgun was determined to be stolen. Mario Flores (12/27/75) was booked on two counts of Aggravated Robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and other charges.

An officer observed a single-car traffic accident at the I-15 on-ramp and saw a female passenger flee the scene on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed and “Junior” quickly found the female hiding behind a construction trailer in the area. The 17-year old was arrested and booked into Juvenile Detention for consumption of alcohol by a minor and fleeing. The driver of the car was turned over to the Highway Patrol and processed for DUI.

SLCPD Releases Photos of Broadway Market and Pharmacy Robber















































The Salt Lake City Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man suspected of robbing the Broadway Market & Pharmacy, 242 E. 300 S., over the weekend.

At approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, the suspect entered the store and handed the cashier a note demanding all of the cash. No weapon was displayed, but the cashier did not risk his safety and gave the suspect the money. The suspect then fled the store on a black mountain bike in an unknown direction.

Suspect description:
• male white adult
• age: 30s to 40s
• bald
• wearing distinctive eyeglasses (see picture)

The Department asks anyone with information about the suspect to call Dispatch at (801) 799-3000. Callers may remain anonymous.

Under the City’s Tips for Cash program, the Police Department offers up to $3,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of armed robbery suspects. To report criminal behavior through this program, call (801) 799-INFO (4636).

US Bank Robbed by Suspects in Costume





















The Salt Lake City Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying two men who robbed the US Bank branch at 2243 E. 2100 S. today.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., two men entered the bank dressed in Halloween costumes and carrying guns. The suspects demanded and received a sum of cash before fleeing the bank on foot. Witnesses then reported the men leaving the area in a silver minivan.

Descriptions of the suspects are limited due to the costumes they were wearing (see attached photos), but one suspect is 5 feet 9 inches tall and the other is 6 feet tall.

Police Ask Public to Take Another Look at Photos of Suspect




Aggravated robbery charges possible

The Salt Lake City Police Department is asking the public to take another look at surveillance images from the March 20 attempted robbery of a Maverik convenience store.

Initial media reports focused on the somewhat comical comments made by the suspect, who did not want his mother to know what he had done. Based on further investigation, detectives believe the suspect intended to cause the clerk serious bodily harm.

At approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, a young Hispanic man entered the Maverick store at 2680 S. 2000 E. and began selecting items for purchase. While the clerk rang up the sale, the suspect walked around the counter, produced a knife and tried to attack the clerk. Sensing a threat, the clerk turned abruptly and stopped the suspect.

According to surveillance images, the suspect is a:
• Male Hispanic adult
• approximately 20-24 years old
• 5 feet 4 inches tall
• 150 lbs.
• wearing glasses, black jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes with white trim

Photos of Beehive Credit Union Robber Released































The Salt City Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man suspected in the robbery of Beehive Credit Union, 1467 S. Main Street, at approximately 12:20 this afternoon.

The man presented a note demanding money to a teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen headed east.

The suspect is described as:
· male white adult
· late 20s to early 30s
· 5’7” to 5’9”
· 150-170 lbs.
· short dark hair
· wearing a grey warm-up jacket with light-blue stripes on the arms and a Nike logo on the back.
