WATCH COMMAND LOG: April 10, 2012

The Watch Command Log is a daily summary of events of significance compiled by Watch Commanders. There are three watches in a 24-hour period: days, afternoons and graveyards. AFTERNOON SHIFT

1826   Retail Theft / CED Deployment   150 N. 900 W.   12-59244

Officers observed Christopher Andersen (2/2/64) arguing with a Viva Market employee in the parking lot. Officers approached Andersen and told them he needed to remain at the scene but he attempted to leave. As the officers attempted to detain Andersen he tried to hit one of the officers with his fist. The officers were able to get Andersen to the ground and utilized a drive stun on the arm to take him into custody. Andersen had committed a retail theft. Anderson was booked into jail for retail theft (felony enhancement), assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.

1907   Robbery   254 E. 400 S.   12-59271

The victim was on the library grass when he felt someone remove his wallet from his pocket. The victim chased the suspect and was able to recover his wallet but a physical struggle ensued. The suspect kicked and punched the victim in the face causing laceration to the forehead. He then fled northbound. A quick police response by officers and K-9 resulted in locating the suspect in the area. Joseph Russom (1/4/81) was booked into jail for robbery.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT

2151   Arson   705 E. 3rd Ave   12-59363

A witness observes the suspect climb up on the roof of the 7-Eleven at this address and use some type of accelerant to start a fire. The fire went out on its own as the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was described as a male white adult, wearing a dark hoodie, plaid shorts and black “Van” type shoes and he had short disheveled brown hair. As the suspect left the roof the witness describes him falling and landing awkwardly, then leaving on foot with a noticeable limp. The suspect was last seen north bound on K Street.

0005   Search Warrant   353 S. Post St   12-37612

Officers executed a search warrant at the above address. A significant amount of marijuana, scales, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, cash and a handgun were all seized. Jacob Mascaro (1/9/92) was booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Three additional people were cited on scene and released.
