April 13, 2012 — The Salt Lake City Police Department has extended the application deadline for the position of Police Officer to Friday, April 27, 2012, at midnight (Mountain Time).
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION:
To apply for this position, interested candidates must complete and submit an online application and attach a copy of their Utah National Police Officer Selection Test (N.P.O.S.T.) results on the City’s website at https://dotnet.slcgov.com/ManagementServices/JobApplication www.slcgov.com/jobs.
If you have applied for the position of Police Officer in the past, you MUST RESUBMIT YOUR NPOST RESULTS AND REAPPLY FOR THE POSITION in order to be considered. If a candidate does not have computer access, he/she may go to SLC Human Resources located in the City and County Building at 451 South State Street, Suite 115, Salt Lake City, for assistance. Applications and/or Utah National Police Officer Selection Test results turned in after the designated application deadline will not be accepted.

Step 5: Download your personal resume or provide a description about your qualifications, education, and experience. Once entered, the information you provide can be saved, modified, or updated when applying for any City job. Be sure to click the “submit” button. If you have an electronic copy of your NPOST results please type or copy and paste your resume in the section provided AND upload your NOST results. Step 6: Click on the “Current List” link on the gray bar at the top left of the page and complete Step 2 but this time click on the “Apply” box at the bottom left hand side of the page.

All interested candidates must first try attaching their Utah N.P.O.S.T. results to their online application when requested (PDF and Word Documents are the only accepted formats using this method). All N.P.O.S.T. results and online applications must be received no later than midnight (Mountain Time) on Friday, April 27, 2012 in order for you to be considered for the position.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING UTAH N.P.O.S.T. SCORES:
If the candidate pool is too large a cutoff or “pass rate” will be determined by the using each candidates overall score from their Utah N.P.O.S.T. exam, and will consider the natural break, adverse impacts and departmental need. Those candidates successfully achieving the “pass rate” will be invited to proceed to the next phase of the testing and selection process. The scores of those individuals who will proceed to the next phase of the testing and selection process will be based solely on their Utah N.P.O.S.T. score.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR THE POLICE OFFICER POSITION:
