Two homeowners returned to their residence and found a suspect inside.  As they entered through the back door of the house, the suspect shouted that he was armed with a gun and directed them not to enter.  The suspect then fled by the front door. The suspect is described as white or a light-skinned Hispanic male adult, approximately 5’6” tall, and in is late 30s or early 40s.  He had dark hair, a moustache and wore a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt

1921     Burglary in Progress      344 W. 700 N.                                       12-36916

Ester Hill-Uncles (10/9/48) was caught in the front yard by the homeowners of a residence that she just burglarized. Hill-Uncles was carrying property that the homeowners recognized as belonging to them.  The homeowners detained Hill-Uncles and called police.  As officers arrived, a second suspect fled out of the rear of the house. Officers contained the area and deployed a police K-9 for a search.  During the search David Matthew Cooke (05/09/61) approached officers and inquired as to what was occurring. Cooke’s vehicle was parked in front of the victim’s residence.  Cooke was interviewed and determined to be Hill-Uncle’s accomplice in the burglary.   Hill-Uncles and Cooke were booked into jail on charges of residential burglary.

0130     Aggravated Assault       921 S. 300 W.                                       12-37024

Kevin Sisneros (10/3/84) got into an argument with a 25-year-old man at The Trails private club.  Both men were escorted outside of the establishment by security.  Once outside the altercation resumed and Sisneros fired a handgun multiple times at the victim, striking him once in the wrist.  Sisneros fled in a vehicle, which was located by responding officers.  Sisneros was taken into custody without incident.  The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.  Sisneros was booked into jail on a charge of aggravated assault

Jerome Gallegos (03/30/61) and his common-law wife, Elizabeth Ulibarri (11/1/62), were involved in a domestic argument in front of their home. At some point, Ulibarri entered a vehicle and Gallegos threw a rock which broke the windshield. Ulibarri then drove the car over the curb and into the front yard but did not strike Gallegos because he had moved onto the porch.  Officers arrived and detained Ulibarri, but Gallegos fled on foot from officers.  A short time later officers, found Ulibarri hiding on top of a garage roof. Gallegos and Ulibarri were booked into jail on several charges each, including domestic assault, criminal mischief and fleeing. 

GRAVEYARD SHIFT

A 22-year-old man was at a house party when he began to argue with a 19-year-old male.  During the altercation the 19-year-old man stabbed the 22-year-old man.  A friend of the victim attempted to intervene and he was also stabbed.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital.  The suspect, whose identity is known to police, fled the scene and remains outstanding.  The victims’ injuries are non-life threatening.  This investigation is ongoing.

2345     Aggravated Burglary      1254 E. Westminster Ave.                      12-35914

Two men, wearing bandannas over their faces and armed with a stun gun, entered the residence of 21-year-old man and his 20-year-old roommate.  The suspects demanded to know where “James” was, but the victims did not know anyone by that name.  One of the suspects began to physically assault the 20-year-old man and the 21-year-old roommate attempted to intervene.  Both victims were physically beaten and hit with the stun gun.  The 20-year-old victim was stabbed during the assault.  His roommate transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.  Officers contacted the victims at the hospital and returned to the residential crime scene with one of them.  The suspects are described as white males in their early 20s, approximately 5’10” tall, with slender builds.

A plain clothes detective was working part time at the Super Saver and came in contact with Miguel Maldonado (07-06-86) who kept spitting on the floor of the store. Maldonado had previously been trespassed from the store for aggressive panhandling. As Maldonado was being escorted out of the store he started to resist and fight with the detective. Other officers were called to the scene and Maldonado was taken safely into custody. Maldonado was transported to jail and booked for resisting arrest, trespassing, and expectorating in public

SLCPD Student Art Contest Deadline Just 30 Days Away

Winning entries from the 2011 SLCPD Student Art Contest.

Salt Lake City High School Students interested in participating in the 5th annual SLCPD Student Art Contest have just 30 more days to submit an entry. Deadline is close of school business Friday, March 30.

Everyone who submits a qualifying entry will receive a contest T-shirt, with the following prizes to be awarded in May:

• 1st Place: $2,5000 scholarship and a MacBook
• 2nd Place: Apple iPad
• 3rd Place: Apple iPod

The victim had just put gas in his vehicle and was walking to the gas station’s building to pay, when the suspect approached him and demanded money.  The suspect was carrying bolt cutters that he held in a threatening matter.  The victim pushed the suspect down, and the suspect got up, grabbed his bike and fled.  The suspect is described as a male Hispanic adult, 25-30 yrs. 5’02” skinny build wearing a green parka with fur around hood and a beanie cap.
