SLCPD Releases Video, Photos of Homicide Suspect

The Salt Lake City Police Department releases the following surveillance video and images of a suspect wanted in last night’s homicide.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, a suspect approached a group in front of CJ's Smoke Shop, 876 W. 800 S. A confrontation ensued, but the suspect left in a maroon vehicle (photo 1 and video below ) believed to be his own. He returned approximately 20-30 minutes later in another vehicle (photos 2 and 3) and confronted the group again. He then produced a firearm and fired, pursuing a victim into the store. Upon leaving the store, the suspect fired again, then fled the scene in the Honda (photos 2 and 3). He was last seen northbound on 900 West.

• light skinned
• male Hispanic adult
• 27-30 years old
• 5’8”
• 140-150 lbs.
• thin mustache
• black hair that is slicked back on top and shaved short on sides
• wearing a light colored (possibly tan) collared shirt, dark jacket, light brown or medium brown pants.

Investigators believe the suspect was the front passenger in this car, which is possibly a dark blue Honda, 2001-2003. This vehicle most likely belongs to the driver, not the shooter.

Suspect Wanted in Homicide

UPDATE: Suspect turned himself in to the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Ft. Duchesne a little before midnight 10/02/10.

Salt Lake City Police Department homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a criminal homicide suspect.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Reuben “Sonny Bear” Cesspooch, 52, allegedly got into a fight with an acquaintance at 451 S. State Street. The 50-year-old victim, also Native American, suffered blunt force trauma to the head and died at the scene.


Suspect description:
• 6’2”
• 250 lbs.
• collar-length salt-and-pepper hair
• brown eyes
• no front teeth
• last seen wearing black Levi’s jeans and a white t-shirt

Although homicide detectives believe Cesspooch to be in the area, he also has family in the Roosevelt and Ogden areas.

Woman Arrested for Obstruction of Justice in Homicide Case

The Salt Lake City Police Department has arrested Gabriela G. Flores (02/21/75) on charges of obstruction of justice.

Homicide Investigators say Flores aided in concealing evidence and suspects in the homicide of Stephanie Williams, whose dead body was found April 5, 2010.

2 Persons of Interest in Custody, 1 More Sought by Police

The Salt Lake City Police Department has accounted for two persons of interest in the April 5, 2010, homicide of Stephanie Williams and now seeks a third, Acuaro Arriaga Luna, 21.

Delfino Arriaga Luna, 33, was booked into jail at 10 a.m. this morning, while Benjamin Arriaga, 37, turned himself in shortly before 1 p.m.

Detectives still seek the following vehicles:
· 1998 Silver Ford Contour LX Sport SE 4-door, Utah plate #SS7268
· 1997 Black Volkswagen Jetta GL 4-door, Utah plate #A890LM
· 1997 white Ford Crown Vic (Police Intcptr), Utah plate #B653EK

Detectives Seek Persons of Interest in Homicide

The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks two persons of interest in the homicide of a 19-year-old female at 766 W. 300 N. this afternoon:

· Delfino Arriaga Luna, 33
· Benjamin Arriaga, 37

Detectives consider these men armed and dangerous.

Delfino Arriaga Luna was last seen driving a 2004 Blue Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab pickup, Utah plate #Z290PH, but also has the following vehicles registered under his name:

· 1998 Silver Ford Contour LX Sport SE 4-door, Utah plate #SS7268
· 1997 Black Volkswagen Jetta GL 4-door, Utah plate #A890LM

Cold Case Review Leads to Break in Anna Palmer Case

Homicide Detectives for the Salt Lake City Police Department have secured a warrant for the arrest of Matthew John Breck (11/3/78) for the 1998 homicide of Anna Palmer.

On the evening of September 10, 1998, the mother of the victim found her 10-year-old daughter on the porch of their home at 1633 S. 300 E. with what proved to be fatal stab wounds to the neck. During the initial autopsy, the victim’s fingernails were trimmed and kept for analysis.

Working with the cooperation of the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services and Sorenson Forensics, Salt Lake City Police Homicide Detectives recently were able to match a DNA profile with Breck.

The suspect was convicted in Idaho in 2001 for the offense of sodomy/lewdness of a minor child under 16, occurring in 2000. The Police Department and the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office now will seek to extradite Breck from the Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino, in Clearwater County, Idaho, to face homicide charges in Utah.

The Police Department would like to thank the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office for the use of their facilities and material assistance, as well as the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office for their assistance and advice in this case.
