The suspect walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller handed him the money from her drawer, which the suspect placed in his backpack. The suspect left north bound on State Street. Later in the day a citizen observed a male putting red stained money into a coin machine at a movie theater in West Valley City. They called police and the male, later identified as Christian Harned (2/4/92), was taken into custody without incident. Christian had red stained hands, shoes, socks, and a large amount of cash with red dye on it. Christian was booked into jail for robbery.

Suspect Sought In Bank of Utah Robbery

April 11, 2012 —The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks the community’s help to identify and locate a man who robbed a bank in Salt Lake City.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, a white male suspect entered the Bank of Utah at 711 S. State Street. He approached the teller and demanded money. After he obtained some cash, the suspect exited the bank and left northbound on foot.

The suspect is described as:

• white male adult;

• 20–30 years of age;

• thin build;

• scruffy facial hair;

• wearing a red long-sleeved T-shirt, skinny blue jeans, black-and-white tennis shoes, black baseball cap and chrome-rimmed sunglasses;

• and carrying a blue backpack.

Officers observed Christopher Andersen (2/2/64) arguing with a Viva Market employee in the parking lot. Officers approached Andersen and told them he needed to remain at the scene but he attempted to leave. As the officers attempted to detain Andersen he tried to hit one of the officers with his fist. The officers were able to get Andersen to the ground and utilized a drive stun on the arm to take him into custody. Andersen had committed a retail theft. Anderson was booked into jail for retail theft (felony enhancement), assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.

The victim was on the library grass when he felt someone remove his wallet from his pocket. The victim chased the suspect and was able to recover his wallet but a physical struggle ensued. The suspect kicked and punched the victim in the face causing laceration to the forehead. He then fled northbound. A quick police response by officers and K-9 resulted in locating the suspect in the area. Joseph Russom (1/4/81) was booked into jail for robbery.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT

A witness observes the suspect climb up on the roof of the 7-Eleven at this address and use some type of accelerant to start a fire. The fire went out on its own as the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was described as a male white adult, wearing a dark hoodie, plaid shorts and black “Van” type shoes and he had short disheveled brown hair. As the suspect left the roof the witness describes him falling and landing awkwardly, then leaving on foot with a noticeable limp. The suspect was last seen north bound on K Street.

Officers executed a search warrant at the above address. A significant amount of marijuana, scales, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, cash and a handgun were all seized. Jacob Mascaro (1/9/92) was booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Three additional people were cited on scene and released.

The 52-year-old clerk was approached by the suspect at the counter of the Shell Food Mart. The suspect lifted the front of his coat indicting he had a gun and asked for the money from the till. The clerk did not see a gun. The suspect obtained a small amount of cash, cigarettes and food items before leaving the store on foot. He was last seen westbound toward Fairmont Park. The suspect was described as a male white adult in his mid 20’s, 5’7” tall, medium build, wearing a gray jacket, black beanie, Levis and white sneakers.

Michael Loomis (4/27/84) contacted the victim of a tractor trailer theft and offered to tell him where his truck was located in exchange for money.  The victim agreed to meet Loomis, who took him to a location in Sandy where the truck was parked. Loomis then offered to return more of the victim’s property in exchange for more money.  While they were at an ATM the victim’s daughter called police. Loomis fled the area on foot just prior to the arrival of officers; however, he was located and apprehended quickly.  Loomis was booked into jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and theft by extortion.

Anh Pham (12/31/89) and a 24-year-old male got into a verbal argument inside of the 7-Eleven. The argument continued into the parking lot where Pham produced a handgun and shot the victim. Officers were across the street on an unrelated call, heard the gunfire and saw Pham leave the area in a van at a high rate of speed.  Pham abandoned the van at 400 N. Chaz Court and stole a Ford Bronco from the same area.  Officers located the stolen Bronco a short distance from the theft and used a K9 to track Pham to a nearby residence.  Pham was taken into custody without incident and booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault, theft of the vehicle, and obstruction of justice.
