1438 Foot Pursuit 1700 S. Richards Street 12-45241
Officers
stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.
As the vehicle came to a stop the driver, Ronald Smith (10/19/79) ran
from the vehicle. After a brief foot
pursuit Richards was taken into custody.
As Smith ran he threw two small packages, which officers recovered. The packages contained small amounts of
methamphetamine. Smith was booked into
jail on charges of fleeing from a peace officer and possession of a controlled
substance.

SLCPD SWAT and Safe Streets Task Force
Officers took Yelfris Sosa-Hurtado (8/13/86) and Vladimir Suarez-Campos (8/2/74)
into custody without incident for their involvement in the shooting death of
Steven Chavez at the CJ Smoke shop located at 876 W. 800 S. The Homicide
occurred on March 14, 2012. The traffic stop was made at 7200 South I-15 as the
suspects exited the freeway.
