Law enforcement across the Salt Lake Valley will join with Special Olympics athletes to complete the final leg of the Torch Run beginning at 8 a.m. on the front steps of the State Capitol tomorrow.
The morning will start with a Final Leg Ceremony to welcome the Special Olympics flame back to Salt Lake City after traveling across the state during the month of May. Over that time, more than 1,000 law enforcement officers have been raising funds for and promoting awareness of the more than 2,000 Special Olympics athletes in Utah.
Runners will take the “Flame of Hope” from the State Capitol to Brigham Young University in Provo, where athletes will begin their Summer Games Thursday.
